Prof. Janusz A. Strzępka
Biography
Prof. Dr. Janusz A. Strzępka, holder of a postdoctoral degree is the Manager of the Department of Economic and Commercial Law of the University of Silesia in Katowice and the Post-Graduate Economic and Commercial Law of the same university. At the University he gives lectures and runs seminars in economic and commercial law, particularly in the law of business liabilities, company law, and bankruptcy and reorganisation law. He also cooperates with the Warsaw School of Economics.
His scientific interests focus on the problems related to the law of liabilities, company law, bankruptcy law and arrangement law. He is the author of many scientific works in the field of civil and commercial law (Udział w Systemie Prawa Prywatnego/Participation in the System of Private Law; Systemie Prawa Gospodarczego i Handlowego/in the System of Economic and Commercial Law; Komentarz do Kodeksu Spółek Handlowych/Commentary to the Commercial Company Code).
He is a scholar of the Humboldt Foundation. In the years 1985-1986 and 1990-1991 he was a scholar at the University in Bonn at the Instytut für Internationales Privatrecht und Rechtsvergleichung.
Experience
- For the last dozen years or so, he has been carrying out the profession of a legal adviser and he runs a lawyer’s office. He cooperates particularly with Katowicki Holding Węglowy SA and Kompania Węglowa SA in Katowice. He was a participant of many important hard coal mining restructuring enterprises.
- Within cooperation with the companies of the Treasury, he held the position of chairman of the supervisory board of the regional broadcasting station of ”Polskie Radio” SA in Katowice; ”Huta Częstochowa” SA (steelworks) in Częstochowa; he was a member of the supervisory bard of Bytomska Spółka Węglowa SA in Bytom; currently he is the Vice-Chairman of the supervisory board of GWARANT Grupa Kapitałowa SA with its seat in Katowice.
- He is an author of many courses, training sessions, and conferences in the field of company law, civil law, and bankruptcy and reorganisation law for representatives of companies of the Treasury.
- He is an arbiter of the Arbitration Court at the National Economic Chamber in Warsaw.
